Hnas Manneby

Hans Manneby (1945-2008)

It is with great grief we regret to inform the International ICOM network that Mr Hans Manneby, Chairman of the Swedish ICOM Committee, has passed away after a short time of illness. Hans Manneby was a person with great engagement and many years of experience of international museum cooperation within ICOM and Samp – the African-Swedish Museum Network. As head of ICOM Sweden, Mr Manneby strenghted the organisation at national level and made important contributions to the whole of ICOM. We will miss Hans tremendously. At the same time we will remember with joy the visionary, humane, prestigeless, humourous and varm person we were privileged to know when working with Hans Manneby on the board of ICOM Sweden. Our thought are especielly directed towards his family.

Icom Sweden

The Swedish National ICOM Committee – one of the oldest in the entire organization – had 589 individual members and 77 institutional members as of December 2005. It is gratifying to note that membership has grown in recent years, particularly individual membership.

Of the membership dues, 90 per cent go to ICOM’s central administration at the head office in Paris. The national committee also receives certain grants, notably from the Swedish National Council for Cultural Affairs (Statens kulturråd) and from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
